WWE News: John Cena to be Absent from this Week’s WWE Raw 1

Last week on WWE Raw, John Cena featured in a first-time ever matchup in one of the main events of the night. He locked horns against the monster among men, Braun Strowman in a much-anticipated contest. The main reason to bring him on Raw was to give some fresh matchups on the flagship show, and we have got one.

Quite expectedly, he turned out to be another victim of Strowman who is unstoppable, at this time. He is the number one contender for the Universal Championship and the favourite one heading into the match at No Mercy PPV.

So, he continued his momentum by a dominant show against the franchise player of the company. In the end, though, the match got disqualified, and John Cena was declared the winner via DQ.

Strowman brought a steel step into the contest during the finish. He hit John Cena for many times before finally putting him down with it. His finishing manoeuvre, the running powerslam was delivered on the steel steps to lead to the disqualification. Apparently, there’s a reason why this angle was planned.

NoDQ.com reported the potential reason behind Braun Strowman hurting Cena with the steel steps was to sideline John Cena from the upcoming edition of Monday Night Raw. The Cenation Leader is scheduled to appear in a Smackdown Live house show in Shenzen, China on the same date. So, he is not likely to attend the flagship show, this week.

It will be the final WWE Raw episode before we get to the No Mercy PPV where Cena will feature in a marquee match against Roman Reigns. So, his presence was needed to make the final buildup of the match. But, being a free agent, Cena has to serve to the Chinese audience and will be present on the blue brand special show.

In his absence, it is expected that Roman Reigns will boast about how Cena can’t handle a beating from Strowman. It is going to give him the upper hand before heading into the match on September 24th.
