The airing of the Mae Young Classic tournament has started on the WWE Network from last week onwards. It is a revolutionary program in all of the sports entertainment since till date no such competitions have been held which features only women. 32 female competitors over the world have been inserted into the series with one winner to be declared in the upcoming week.
Now, we all know an Indian wrestler has also been a part of it. Kavita Devi has now become the first-ever woman from the subcontinent to compete in the WWE. She was pitted against Dakota Kai in the first round matchup which also aired last week following Monday Night Raw.
Kavita entirely dominated the contest for the most of the match. However, in the end, her strength was unable to match the speed of Dakota Kai who picked up the win. Thus, Kavita was eliminated from the Mae Young Classic since it was a knockout tournament.
But, we feel proud to say that despite the loss that the Haryana girl suffered, she was able to earn the attention that one requires. Wrestlezone.com later reported that no other matches from the tournament had got views more that Kavita Devi vs Dakota Kai one. It is an indication that the Indian audience might have been interested in this exceptional talent and watched the match over and over on Youtube.
WWE had put the 16 matches that aired on the first week’s show on their official Youtube channel. While Kavita’s match received a hit of 1.5 million viewers, the second spot was taken by Princesa Sugehit vs Kay Lee Ray which got 106K views. The difference between these two matches is so huge that WWE might give particular attention to the emerging talent that Kavita is.
