Kofi Kingston was up against all the odds on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live. He started a Gauntlet match against five other superstars with a huge stipulation waiting of he could pull off the win. It stated that he could challenge Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 35 if he wins this Gauntlet.

WWE to change Wrestlemania match for Kurt Angle

The New Day to quit WWE

Eventually, he went on to win the entire thing on Smackdown and set on a new record. But Vince McMahon’s vendetta against him continued prohibiting him from the main event of Wrestlemania 35. But he certainly pulled off a performance that the fans will remember for a long time.

Alongside this, Kofi Kingston set a new record on Smackdown toppling Brock Lesnar. He has now become the second-only superstar in the WWE to eliminate three back-to-back Superstars on SmackDown Live. The only one to do so is the current Universal Champion from Monday Night Raw who did the same over 15 years ago.

Back in 2003, Brock Lesnar eliminated Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, and Kurt Angle back to back in such a Gauntlet. Kofi Kingston has surpasses the record since he won five back to back matches. Also, he has been part of a Gauntlet match within just a span of a month that is also an incredible feat.

It was last month prior to Elimination Chamber when Kofi-Mania started to expand after a Gauntlet. He eliminated Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, and Jeff Hardy before AJ Styles pinned him but he himself shattered the previous record on this week’s episode of Smackdown. He lasted for more than one hour to deliver the performance of a lifetime.

Sheamus was the first opponent that Kofi Kingston eliminated via a Trouble in Paradise. Cesaro was the next one in the list to get victimized through an SOS. Rowan disqualified himself after cracking a chair on the back of Kofi. Samoa Joe and Randy Orton suffered pinfalls via simple roll-ups before the last challenge came out of nowhere.

Vince McMahon inserted Daniel Bryan as the sixth opponent who took advantage of a battered and bruised Kofi Kingston. A Running Knee took care of the high-flyer that ensured Kofi was not going to Wrestlemania 35. But he sure won hearts of the fans all over the globe. We hope he can make it to the show of shows by any means when Smackdown airs, next week.
