WWE News: Major Changes Coming To WWE Raw Regarding Championships

At this time, the reigning WWE Universal champion on WWE Raw is Brock Lesnar. Alexa Bliss and Dean Ambrose are the Women’s champion and the Intercontinental champion, respectively. The returning Hardy Boyz and Neville are the tag team champions and the Cruiserweight champion, on the other hand.

Now if recent reports from the Dirty Sheets podcast are to be believed then every one of these titles is set to change hands in times of Summerslam except the Universal championship.

It is quite obvious in terms of the upcoming rivalries. Alexa Bliss was crowned with the title due to the excessive praise she received for her performance while coming to WWE Raw. This one was an abrupt change in planning keeping intact the upcoming rivalry between Sasha banks and Bayley over the Raw women’s championship.

In the case of the tag team championships, The Hardyz are likely to split in storylines to start performing as singles competitors and hence they are bound to drop the titles to Sheamus & Cesaro, at a certain point. Neville is holding the Cruiserweight title for a long time now ever since last year’s Roadblock PPV.

Keeping him with the championship for some more time will make things stale and hence a change is much needed here. Also, The Miz is probably winning back the Intercontinental championship from Dean Ambrose to start a long-term feud with Roman Reigns in this summer. This will mark his seventh reign with the title in hand. The sources stated the following over the situation on WWE Raw,

“Over on Raw, everyone is going to drop their belts. Alexa’s run was meant to be something for Bayley to do until they do Bayley vs Sasha. But they are so happy with Alexa, that could change. But, Ambrose, Neville and The Hardyz are definitely dropping their belts. You may have noticed, Matt and Jeff are winning all their singles matches, as they want to protect them for singles pushes.”

The scenario on Smackdown is quite opposite from the flagship show though, since no title change is expected over there at least, for now. We have given reports stating that at Backlash, no title change is likely to happen and the source has supported it stating:

“SmackDown’s champions are more long-term than Raw, especially Orton. Owens and Styles are going to be a series, they want to get to Usos vs The New Day and the long term goal is to get the SmackDown Women’s Title onto Charlotte.”
