Charlotte Flair has arrived on Smackdown Live as part of the Superstar Shakeup, last month. This was considered to be the biggest acquisition made by the blue brand. It was certain that WWE creative reserved a strong booking around her to establish as the bonafide heel on the division.
However, that would have made the heel vs. babyface ratio, quite unusual. There would be four heels on the brand (Charlotte, Carmella, Tamina, Natalya) with only two babyfaces (Naomi, Becky Lynch). This would be a bar while making matches in the future.
So, we have seen a transformation in Charlotte’s character for the last couple of weeks where she was getting attacked by three members of the Welcoming Committee, constantly. This has started the speculation that perhaps she is taking a face-turn.

However, the recent reports of Wrestling Observer stated that here are some serious conflicts going on among the WWE creative with the decision whether Charlotte will take a full babyface turn or not. Some of the writers do feel that this is not the right time to make her the face of the blue brand.
So, this might be on a temporary basis and soon we can expect her turning on against Naomi and Becky Lynch. This might be the reason that we have already seen tensions being risen on during the conversation among Charlotte, Becky, and Naomi on this week’s Smackdown.
As for now, these three women will be competing in a six-woman tag team match against the three members of the Welcoming Committee (Natalya, Tamina, and Carmella). The match will take place on May 21st at the Backlash PPV. Charlotte might turn out to be the deciding factor of this match’s outcome.
We have already seen she is joining force with Becky and Naomi with some hesitation which is a clear indication that she is not out of her heel character, totally. So, she might turn her back at the PPV leaving her partners high-and-dry causing the match up.
This would certainly be a great move for her to remain safe from the hands of the Welcoming committee as well as keeping her heel persona intact. Naomi and Becky would be outnumbered considering the number game.
