Mark Henry has been one of the longest-serving employees that WWE ever had. He signed in the company back in the 90s and still works under their banner.
In recent times, this man had not featured in any of the in-ring competitions. It was in Royal Rumble 2017 when he was seen in the battle royal following one last match against Braun Strowman.
So, he is said to be retired from any physical altercations. But, the announcement of his retirement never been confirmed, officially. Meanwhile, he is working in a backstage role for the WWE. He possesses an ability to search for new talents, and the company gave him the exact job.
His stint also continued in Rio Olympics held in 2016 where he acted as a representative of the WWE. Some of the superstars found by him are Braun Strowman, Apollo, and Bianca Belair. These young talents have benefitted by the world’s strongest athlete in every aspect of wrestling.
While speaking in an interview with the WWE.com, Braun Strowman noted on Mark Henry and how he helped to become the hottest thing present on the Monday Night Raw roster. Henry handpicked this monster in the earlier days. So, while recalling those days, he stated the following,
“I’d been a huge fan of his for a long time and had met him a couple of times through my strongman endeavours over the years. To have him approach me and offer me a tryout with WWE was a dream come true.”
The man with ‘sexual chocolate’ gimmick pointed out that Strowman has quite a unique physique. So, he advised the protégé to try something new for his main roster run,
“Why wait on somebody else to stumble, so you can get one up on them when you can just take over and do something completely different and be really, really good at it? It was hard for me to tell him that.”
Well, it is needless to say how much different and unique, Braun Strowman has become, gradually. The inhuman stuff this man had done on WWE Raw has been one of the biggest attractions on the show. Mark Henry was noted in the following quotes of Bianca where warm regards were shown,
“Having him contact me at that point, having someone like him believe in me and say, ‘I think you have all the qualities it takes to be a wrestler,’ put a lot of confidence in me,”
