Former WWE Diva Mickie James returned to the WWE as part of the NXT Takeover: Toronto, earlier this year. She challenged the NXT women’s champion Asuka for the title, which she was unable to win. Since then, we have not traced her in the company which started the speculation regarding her future in the WWE. Triple H further fuelled it saying her future in the WWE lies on her hand.
After that, PWInsider.com was the first to report that Mickie James will be joining Smackdown Live in future. A few weeks back, it was treated as a wild rumor. However, the newer one from Wrestling Observer Newsletter almost guarantees her return to the main roster.
Dave Meltzer reported Mickie was seen in Pittsburgh, PA for a medical checkup in the WWE facility. It is only being done as a routine checkup process before a new talent shows up on the main roster. If this report is any indication, then it’s just only a matter of time that we see her return.
The report also suggested that she has signed a full-time contract with the WWE to join Smackdown Live. The WWE Creative will get plenty of options in terms of booking if Mickie indeed joins the blue bandwagon. As of now, we’ll have to wait until the Women’s championship match on Smackdown Live, next week since Mickie is rumored to be the next contender for women’s championship.
Since Mickie is supposed to return in a babyface persona, Alexa Bliss will most likely retain her title against Becky Lynch. This will also wrap up her feud with the Irish Lass-Kicker to get a fresh opponent in 2017.
