With the year coming to an end, real soon, it is time to get the male or female wrestler names who were able to feature on the spotlight and thus became the number one wrestler of this year. Previously, Pro-Wrestling Illustrated declared that they chose Asuka as the number one female performer around the world.
Recently, Rolling Stone published an article stating that The Miz has been the Wrestler of the year 2017. The post from the source’s website declared The Miz as the “de facto leader of Raw for most of the past several months, stepping up when others were hurt or stuck in storyline limbo, taking his licks against the biggest names in the biz and coming out scathed but frequently hoisting Intercontinental gold above his shoulders.”
It might have come as a shock to most of the fans as there were numerous names like AJ Styles, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman or Brock Lesnar in the mix. But, if judged by the performance and carrying a brand on a constant basis, no one does this better like the former Intercontinental Champion.

He already had a mind-boggling run in the year 2016 where he had quite a personal feud with Daniel Bryan to make the Smackdown Live brand, interesting. Later, he continued it with a feud against John Cena that was based on real-life hatred. Cena and Nikki Bella might have won the match at Wrestlemania, but the crowd gave a round of applause to the Hollywood A-lister.
The WWE officials knew how much of an asset he is to the WWE brand and hence drafted him to the flagship show to save it with his great work with the mic. Once again, The Miz and Maryse stole the show like always. He was quick to capture the Intercontinental Championship with dirty games with Dean Ambrose and had a lengthy run with it.

This was the seventh run with the title that was more than exciting and treated as the prime title reign with Brock Lesnar being absent from the scene post-Wrestlemania. The Miz has done justice to the role that WWE creative team handed him, and he is the rightful owner of the spot. Following the announcement, The Miz also responded to the source with the above tweet.
