In recent times, the rumour mill is running rampant to find out who John Cena will be facing at this year’s Wrestlemania.
The previous speculations suggested the dream match with the Undertaker is locked on. But, the scenario has been changed since Cena stated on Raw that the Deadman would not be available.
So, it is evident there would be a backup plan reserved for the franchise player of the company. Considering numerous sources have sounded their opinions on this matter.
This is actually a good thing since WWE programming keeps the focal point whenever this type of confusion happens regarding a situation.
The previous reports from Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated stated that Rey Mysterio was present on Smackdown Live in California to finalise a WWE deal. Most probably, he will be facing John Cena at the biggest event of the year replacing The Undertaker.
Once this news broke out, there were responses from other sources, as well.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Rey Mysterio was not there in California, at all. He denied the rumours of him potentially facing the Cenation Leader, also. Instead, Undertaker vs John Cena is still in-reserve for ‘Mania.
Meanwhile, Barrasso was not willing to back down from his earlier words. Relying on his sources, he was unmoved by his previous reports of a Cena vs Rey match at New Orleans on April 8th. Mysterio’s indie scene working dates also gave some updates on the potential deal with WWE.
The former WWE World Champion is still slated to feature in the NJPW show on March 28th. This indicates he will not appear on WWE programming within that. The biggest pro-wrestling promotion of the world does not allow a superstar to work any indie dates after signing a deal.

“Rey’s upcoming dates include an upcoming CRASH Lucha Libre event on March 17th in Tijuana, as well as the March 25th NJPW event in Long Beach, California, where he will be facing the legendary Jushin “Thunder” Liger. Mysterio was also scheduled to appear at the upcoming CRASH event during WrestleMania weekend on Friday, April 6th.”

Also, an announcement from Impact Wrestling promotion made things interesting. They will announce a big signee under their banner on this Monday.
Rumours do say this name is going to be none other Rey Mysterio since talk is going on between the two parties, for quite sometimes. In this case, Mysterio will be heading to the Impact Zone.
