Apart from all the returns that took place on the WWE Raw 25th anniversary, there was a splendid main event match on the evening. It was scheduled between Roman Reigns and The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship. The hype ups over this contest were certainly much bigger since there a tremendous amount of bad blood between these two superstars.
Furthermore, The Miz returned to the flagship show, two weeks ago to hunt down Reigns with a massive assault to fire up the then champion. Reigns tried to put his hands on The Miz, before this contest but failed. Instead, the Hollywood A-lister ran his mouth all over the internet claiming how he will be stealing the title on WWE Raw 25th anniversary.
Vowing to deliver an auspicious moment that will remain intact for the later 25 years, he stood tall on this by delivering a classic matchup against The Big Dog of the WWE. By the end of the match, The Miz was able to win the Intercontinental Championship for the eighth time in his career to cement his legacy as the greatest IC champion.

However, there were dirty games throughout the match, as we can expect from the heel superstar. Prior to the opening of the contest, The Miz had a staredown with the Smackdown general manager, Daniel Bryan leading to YES chant from the crowd.

In the match, Roman Reigns went after him from the get-go. But, it was the Miztourage who were distracting from the beginning. It allowed the challenger to connect with the skull-crushing finale twice, but he failed to capitalise on that, as Reigns kicked out of the pinfall attempts.

Later, the Miztourage got ejected from the ringside area by the referee providing the Miz upper-hand, as he exposed the top turnbuckle.
Roman Reigns was sent out to the top rope opening space for the Miz to deliver the third Skull-crushing finale on his opponent that earned him the pinfall, finally. The Miz is now only one more reign away from tying Chris Jericho’s record nine championship win with the Intercontinental Championship.
