One of the mid-card titles will be on the line at Wrestlemania 35 as confirmed on last night’s Smackdown Live. Samoa Joe will defend the United States Championship against a surprising opponent i.e. Rey Mysterio. This rivalry has not been fully started yet despite which WWE decided to make this match official at the grandest event of the year. The Master of 619 himself broke the news on a short segment on last night’s Smackdown.

A demon to re-appear at Wrestlemania 35

Rey Mysterio appeared on Smackdown with his son Dominic to give the breaking news to the audience. He stated that the McMahons have allowed him to challenge for the United States title at Wrestlemania 35. This comes to a direct reward since he pinned Joe in a fatal-4-way match, last week. Andrade and R-Truth were also present in the match that was solid back and forth contest.

But in the end, it was Rey Mysterio who got the pinfall victory over the United States Champion and thus earned the opportunity. Here’s the confirmation from WWE.com,

“After pinning Samoa Joe in a tag team showdown on the March 12 edition of SmackDown LIVE, The Master of the 619 will get a golden opportunity to capture the United States Championship at WrestleMania. Can the masked legend conquer arguably the most vicious and sadistic Superstar in WWE today? Find out at WrestleMania, Sunday, April 7, at 7 ET/4 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network!”

It is likely that the other mid-card title (Intercontinental Championship) from WWE Raw will also be on the line from Monday Night Raw. Last year, Finn Balor, the Miz, and Seth Rollins battled for the IC title at Wrestlemania 35 in a triple threat encounter. On the other hand, Jinder Mahal won the United States Championship from champion Randy Orton in a Fatal Four-Way also featuring Bobby Roode and Rusev.

Previously, we have predicted that Rey Mysterio was about to culminate his rivalry against Andrade at Wrestlemania 35. As for Samoa Joe, he was supposed to defend his title against a returnee John Cena. But now he is getting another veteran name against him that could be his biggest match of the career, to date.
