The United States Championship had quite a roller coaster ride over the last month.
Following Wrestlemania, we received the Superstar Shakeup which switched the home of the title for a couple of times. Randy Orton was the one who headed into Wrestlemania as the champion to defend it in a fatal-four-way match. Jinder Mahal, Bobby Roode, and Rusev were the other opponents.
Mahal won the title on that night to get a Wrestlemania moment of his own. It was the very first time the Modern-day Maharaja had won the prestigious championship.
Quite expectedly, this would have set up a rematch between Jinder and Randy, going forward.
But, during the Superstar Shakeup, Jinder was shifted to WWE Raw. On the very first night, he lost the championship to Jeff Hardy in an impromptu match. The very next night, Jeff was moved to Smackdown Live to bring the title back to the blue brand. The younger Hardy has already proved to be a strong champion by defending it against Jinder at the Greatest Royal Rumble event.
Now, on tonight’s Smackdown, Jeff will look forward to the future. But, Viper would probably be ready to strike him. It is to remind you Randy Orton did not get his contractual rematch, till date. Furthermore, he also won the number one contender’s match for the US title on Smackdown to earn the right.
So, it might just be a matter of time the Apex Predator gets another chance to capture the title at the Backlash PPV event. It is the go-home night for Smackdown Live before the dual brand PPV event. Hence, tonight we can be ready to get another mouth-watering match between Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton to get official.

Meanwhile, WWE.com is advertising Hardy to appear on Miz TV for Smackdown in Montreal which is an indication Orton might also appear on the show, as well,
“United States Champion Jeff Hardy left Saudi Arabia still the United States Champion after a successful defense of his title against Raw’s Jinder Mahal, despite the meddling of Sunil Singh. The Charismatic Enigma can now turn his focus to Team Blue and the Superstars ready to try and take his star-spangled title.
But before Hardy gets back in the ring, he’ll have to face the hard-hitting questions of WWE’s A-Lister on Miz TV.”
