The announcement of seeing an Intercontinental Championship match came once Fastlane PPV was over. Finn Balor was one of the champions from WWE Raw who did not put his title on the line on Sunday night. So he had to defend it against one of the nemesis on the flagship show over the past few months. Bobby Lashley received the chance after securing a pinfall win from last week.

The Intercontinental Champion made his entry on WWE Raw first in this match followed by Bobby Lashley. Lio Rush was not accompanying him which indicated something fishy going around. Commentators mentioned that Strowman injured him with a shoulder block, last week. The match went underway with Lashley hammering away at Balor. He went for a suplex but Balor moved away and hit a Running Kick to the face.

The champ was in control in this match on WWE Raw until Lio Rush finally showed up ringing the bell. Finn Baor went outside to neutralize him. But while coming back to the ring, Bobby Lashley caught him with a huge spear in mid-air. He hooked the legs of his opponent to get another pinfall victory and also get back the Intercontinental Championship. This marks the second time that the behemoth is holding the mid-card title. Probably, he is heading into Wrestlemania with this title in hands.

Finn Balor won the Intercontinental Championship at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event. He competed in a handicap match against Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush. The only advantage to feature in this match was that he could defeat any one of them to become the new champion. Well, this stipulation went in his favor.

Lio Rush suffered the pinfall handing over the Intercontinental Championship to Finn Balor. The former champion Bobby Lashley did not have to be involved in a pinfall or submission to drop the title. WWE has now withdrawn the mandatory rematch clause which did not allow him to get back the mid-card earlier than last night’s WWE Raw.

It was on last week’s WWE Raw where Finn Balor suffered a beatdown from the heels. Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Baron Corbin assaulted him inside the ring. Plus, Lashley pinned the champion with a spear to set up the title match. Balor got a chance to seek retribution against The Dominator whereas the opponent got a title opportunity and capitalized on it.
