We have learned about a substantial first-time ever match on this week’s Smackdown.
In the past London episode of the show, WWE booked a match between two of the biggest heels. Big Cass had to go one-on-one against Samoa Joe in a blockbuster contest. It was going to be the last qualifier match for MITB.
The situation was quite interesting, as both the men in this match are bonafide heel superstars. But, the scenario changed drastically, overnight. It happened due to an injury occurring to Big Cass. In a recent Smackdown house show, the seven-footer might have suffered an injury. He was limping all the way after competing in the show.
Later, WWE officials reached to carry him to the backstage area. Following this, rumours started flying that he must have reinjured his knee. We all know that the former partner of Enzo was out from the scene for more than six months due to this devastating injury. He ruptured his knee badly to get out of in-ring competitions.
Due to @BigCassWWE injury, @WWEDanielBryan will face @JEFFHARDYBRAND tomorrow night on #SDLive in a second chance match…
The winner will face @SamoaJoe NEXT WEEK for an opportunity to qualify and enter the Men’s #MITB Ladder Match.

Apparently, he picked up the concussion in the same area. Although, we don’t know about the details of the injury. So, WWE came up with a brand new matchup on tonight’s Smackdown Live. A new MITB qualifying match will take place where Daniel Bryan will get a second chance.
He will now take on Jeff Hardy in the main event of Smackdown from Worcester, Massachusetts. The United States Champion will also get a second chance. There’s a twist in the tale, however. Whosoever wins this contest on tonight, has to go through against Samoa Joe, next week. So, until then, we will not get the final name in the men’s division MITB ladder match.
Check out WWE.com confirming this matchup,
“SmackDown LIVE General Manager Paige has revealed that Big Cass is not cleared to compete after suffering an injury, which has led to a second chance at Money in the Bank qualification for two popular Superstars. The winner of Bryan vs. Hardy will take on Samoa Joe during the May 29 edition of SmackDown in a battle for the final spot in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.”

The stakes for the upcoming match are already quite high. It will be interesting to see who emerges to next week’s ultimate qualifier.
Apart from this contest, there will be two more MITB qualifying matches on Smackdown. It will help to fill up the remaining two spots on the women’s MITB ladder matchup.
