WWE programming gears up for the Wrestlemania season as early as WWE TLC goes by. This has been the norm for most of the years in the past decade as TLC marks the end in WWE calendar. Royal Rumble remains up, next to kick things off for the biggest event of the year. This year, the prestigious battle royal will take place on January 27th at the Chase Field Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. The Road to Wrestlemania will also begin, thereby.
Most of the times, WWE officials chalk out the Wrestlemania plans much earlier to the show. The storyline on WWE TV goes accordingly eyeing the main event, for the ‘show of shows’. But misfortunes can ruin the plans at any point. This year was no different as the creative team had to scrap the entire thing after the departure of Roman Reigns. He had to take hiatus from WWE programming owing to the real-life battle with Leukemia.
Big match waiting for AJ Styles at Wrestlemania
As per the reports of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Roman Reigns was in the planned main event of Wrestlemania 35. The directions regarding his match are not clear. But it is likely that Dean Ambrose was the potential opponent in-store for him. The Lunatic Fringe has the heel-turn of the year by beating the hell out of Seth Rollin in October. He could have set up one of the most naturally built rivalries against his former Shield brethren.

The source also hinted about the earlier planned WWE Raw women’s championship match at Wrestlemania 35. Ronda Rousey vs. Natalya was the original lineup with the latter one turning heel. This was the sole reason why Nattie entered WWE Raw scene leaving Smackdown Live in April. She played the role of training partner of Ronda Rousey just to turn heel whenever the storyline demands.
But Vince McMahon denied the villainous turn once Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart passed away. He rather used Nattie’s father in a storyline against The Riott Squad to garner sympathy for her. Here’s more on the women’s division planning around Wrestlemania 35, (courtesy stillrealtous.com)
“Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair was also considered for the main event, but once Becky Lynch got hot and everyone was on the same page for Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch at Mania with Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair at the Rumble.”
The same planning is said to be intact for Wrestlemania 35, for now. If everything falls in the piece then we are likely to see Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch in the main event of the show.
