WWE News: Original Planning With Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey Dream Match 1

Becky Lynch has been on a solid run in the WWE over these past few months. No other wrestler in the entire pro-wrestling industry is not more over than her. The Man gimmick is becoming perhaps the most popular of all-time that can touch the craze of Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Rock. Currently, she is on the Road to Wrestlemania main event with her determination.

Becky Lynch invaded a WWE show

The 2019 women’s Royal Rumble belonged to her as she won the match proving the expectations right. This earned her the opportunity to challenge any one of the women’s champions from WWE Raw or Smackdown at Wrestlemania. She chose none other than Ronda Rousey to set up a never-before-seen matchup.

It is a dream match that the WWE Universe wanted to see for a long time. If not dealing with an injury, Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch could have happened much earlier i.e. at Survivor Series. WWE already started advertising a cross-brand Champion vs. Champion match in the last big-four event of the year 2018.

But Nia Jax broke the face of Becky Lynch with a stiff punch. This made her the universal villain of the WWE Universe but most importantly, she was able to ruin the dream match. So what could happen if The Man would have gone one-on-one with the Baddest Woman on the Planet? We had the answer as a reliable source disclosed the original planning.

Dave Meltzer discussed Becky Lynch’s journey to WrestleMania on Wrestling Observer Radio. He noted that WWE always had a DQ finish in-store for her match against Ronda Rousey. The Raw women’s champion is undefeated, to date. But WWE would not want to ruin Becky’s strong status, as well since she was ready to win the Royal Rumble 2019.

So disqualifying the match at Survivor Series was the best idea from a creative perspective. Eventually, the same planning was intact when Charlotte Flair replaced Becky Lynch at Survivor Series. The Queen beat the hell out of Ronda Rousey to leave an example and build a long-term rivalry. Ronda got her revenge at TLC by costing both these ladies their championship opportunities.

At this point, Becky Lynch is on the top of the world by winning the 2019 Royal Rumble. She will be challenging Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35 on April 7th. But for now, the storyline claims that Charlotte Flair replaced her, as declared on Monday Night Raw. This is to make sure the already planned triple threat title match happens at Wrestlemania.
