Women’s division has been breaking barriers throughout the last couple of years. The entire roster is growing bigger that created two separate championships on WWE Raw and Smackdown. This, in turn, produced a number of gimmick matches and main events from the female roster. We also received a path-breaking PPV named Evolution from them.

Now comes the need for a mid-card title for them to keep all the competitors relevant. This is why fans wanted to see women’s tag team championships for a long time. Vince McMahon finally acknowledged it after long speculations in December 2018. These belts will finally appear in the WWE at the Elimination Chamber 2018.

A reliable source DaBeltGuy revealed the original planning around women’s tag team championships. WWE was originally going to introduce these belts much earlier. But the plans got pushed twice in the past leading a significant delay. Even the female roster was hopeful to receive these belts a long time ago, as per the earlier plans.

As revealed by the source, WWE planned the Sasha Banks vs. Bayley feud eyeing the women’s tag team championships. They turned on each other during the summer of 2018 producing a couple of singles contests. But the bad blood did not last long due to lack of creative planning as they got back together on the same page.

Apparently, they were about to win the women’s tag team championships. WWE also ordered belts at that point to introduce them to the world. But they might have been unhappy with ‘the final product or the reaction to the leak’. So the idea of revealing the much-anticipated belts at Summerslam got scrapped. The officials had a backup plan, though.

They wanted to sanction the women’s tag team championships in time for Evolution. This is why Trish Stratus and Lita came back to perform on the show. Sasha Banks and Bayley was still going to be the favorites to win these belts. But plans did not work out around Evolution.

The good news is that Sasha Banks and Bayley are still involved heavily around these upcoming belts. They will remain as a tag team until and unless they capture these belts. Meanwhile, the user also mentioned it was not the first time that WWE had to scrap plans with new titles,

“This is not the first time WWE has had new belts made only to scrap them. Several years ago, they had a new ECW belt made with a diamond plate texture main plate and chain link side plates with removable nameplates. This belt was never used because apparently, CM Punk did not like it. It resides today in the best chest at the WWE warehouse.”
