Currently, Bobby Roode is holding the United States Championship on Smackdown Live.
He won it by winning a tournament that was held in January after Dolph Ziggler decided to vacate the title following the Clash of Champions PPV event. Jinder Mahal and the current champion clashed in a big match in which the latter one picked up the win.
Going forward, Randy Orton decided to go into a rivalry with the Glorious One which is a fresh feud on the blue brand. This man has never won a United States Championship in his illustrious career.
This is the only title left in his bag that can make him a Grand Slam Champion in the WWE. After attacking the champion with RKO, the commissioner of the show decided to give him an opportunity for the mid-card championship.
By this, Randy Orton will now take on Bobby Roode in a singles match at the Fastlane PPV event. We are looking forward to this particular match which has never been held in the WWE, before this. Now, the storyline angel did feature another superstar in the mix. None other than Jinder Mahal is gunning for the title, as well.
Not only the former WWE Champion put down Orton and Roode in recent times but also picked up a win against the former name to earn the right of getting a title match, as well. But, for an unknown reason, he is out of the Fastlane championship match. A recent update from Dave Meltzer has been able to drop some hint on this.

The veteran journalist from Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated the current planning for Wrestlemania 34 over the United States Championship is to host a triple threat match featuring Bobby Roode, Randy Orton, and Jinder Mahal.
Probably, this is why the creative team put Mahal out of the mix so that the equation does not get repetitive in time for the biggest event of the year.
Meanwhile, the Modern-Day Maharaja is giving strong messages for the deserved spot at the United States title picture. He has already spoken up on this on the social media sites and WWE.com interviews.
Hopefully, this man will get the shot at the grandest event of them all.
