WWE News: Planning For Raw Women's Championship Revealed 1

The WWE once again crowned Charlotte as the women’s championship at the Roadblock PPV. It was for the third consecutive time in the PPV history when Sasha Banks lost her title in a singles contest. The crowd was upset after Sasha tapped out to the figure eight from Charlotte. As per the earlier planning, Sasha was the original one to walk out as the champion.

She was supposed to create a new feud with the returning Emmalina on Raw. Going forward, she was about to turn heel and start a feud with Bayley. This was a much-anticipated feud on the main roster after they were able to garner much attention with their rivalry back at the NXT.

However, the planes were wiped out since the creative didn’t have enough faith in Sasha. So, they wanted to move away from the Charlotte-Sasha saga and put Bayley into the picture, right away. This also means a probable Sasha-Bayley match was canceled thereby.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer newsletter suggested the above by adding that Vince McMahon was never in favor of Sasha Banks. He just wanted to use the Boss to establish Charlotte’s heel character. He will now probably look to cement her legacy and perhaps the greatest women’s champion of all time.

As of now, Bayley will be involved with Charlotte in another stretched feud. Perhaps, the big singles match between them is stored for Wrestlemania 33. Hence, the creative’s main job is to invest the audience into the storyline using Bayley’s popularity. Only time will tell if they will be able to do so or not.

On the other hand, Sasha is already booked for a feud with Nia Jax going forward. The creative expected to generate a lot of sympathy for her after the Ironman match at Roadblock but it failed to garner the required attention. So, she may not feature in the title picture going forward. Emmalina was Sasha’s supposed opponent after her comeback. But that has been postponed for an indefinite span of time too.
