WWE News: Plans Around John Cena Upon His Return In July
Jun 7, 2017 at 6:16 PM
Various speculations around the rumour mill were suggesting that John Cena would be returning on the July 4th episode of Smackdown Live. The Cenation leader himself quoted the mentioned date in a tweet on his account fueling up the expectation.
On the latest episode of Smackdown Live, it was made official. He was advertised on the show to be back once the Money in the Bank PPV is over in June. The franchise will be available for the month of July which means that he will compete at the Smackdown-exclusive PPV, Battleground, in that month.
Later, WWE.com published the following lines to hype up the occasion, even bigger:
“The Fourth of July, a time for family, friends, fireworks … and JOHN CENA! The Cenation Leader will return to WWE when SmackDown LIVE airs on Independence Day. Cena has not been seen on WWE television since WrestleMania 33 when he famously proposed Nikki Bella.
What will the 16-time World Champion have to say about the state of the blue brand upon his return? Find out on SmackDown LIVE on the Fourth of July.”

It is evident that he will be inserted into the main event picture upon return. A report from wweleaks.org has claimed that a program between John Cena and Jinder Mahal has already been pencilled for the near future. In fact, Mr. “Hustle, Loyalty and Respect” is going to be the one to dethrone the “Modern Day Maharaja” from his championship reign.
It was earlier reported that the franchise of the company will be available in the company for a longer span. He is not expected to leave until November which let the WWE creative one more chance to hand him the WWE title, once more.
With his next WWE title win, John Cena will become a record 17-time WWE World championship holder which is more than anyone in the history of the pro-wrestling circuit. In this year’s Royal Rumble PPV, he tied the record of Ric Flair picking up the 16th world title. But, he lost it in just two weeks of time since he was about to leave following Wrestlemania.
