WWE News: Possible Outcome of Sasha Banks vs Alexa Bliss Championship Match

WWE Summerslam witnessed a plenty of title changes including the Raw Women’s Championship. Sasha Banks was the favourite one walking into the match to come out as victorious, and she did it by making her opponent tap out to the Banks Statement move. By virtue of this win, she was able to overcome her so-called curse of Brooklyn.

Before this year, she lost two big time matches in the Summerslam weekend for last two consecutive years. In 2015, she lost the NXT Women’s title match against Bayley, whereas, last year, she walked out as the loser again against Charlotte. It was her first-ever title defence after winning the prime women’s title in the WWE.

Now, after winning the championship for the fourth time on the main roster, she will have to defend it for the very first time against Alexa Bliss who does owe a rematch. As we learned on Raw, this week, the match will be hosted at the next episode of Monday Night Raw in Memphis, Tennessee.

The question heading into the match is that will Sasha Banks be able to defend the title, successfully. It is an inevitable question for the fans since she never had success in doing so, previously. During all her three title reigns, she lost the title, at the earliest, i.e. in her first championship defence.

The topic was discussed by Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer in a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. While speaking of whether Little Miss Bliss will win it back, Bryan stated,

“[she] could, I think it depends on Bayley’s recovery timetable and if she’s gonna be back and if that’s the direction they’re going. Otherwise, she could win it back because they’ve done a lot of that as of late.”

It’s a fact that making Sasha the champion is for the sole purpose of arranging a feud against Bayley once she returns. However, Dave Meltzer added that it’s not likely that Bayley would return, sooner. Plus, in recent times, WWE is applying the idea of taking the title away from the champion and giving it back to garner some attention. Considering this, Bliss might become a four-time champion, as well on Raw. Check out Meltzer’s comments, here:

“I just think that they want Alexa Bliss to be the champion. And right now I think — right now they’re in the mode of doing lots of title changes figuring that lends attention, and maybe it’s the right move. Cause you know WWE’s doing so many things like they’ve switched a lot of titles in the last week and a lot of cases like it happened with The New Day and Tozawa, they switch the titles and then they switch them right back.”
