WWE News: Potential Change in the Main Event of Survivor Series

The buildup of this year’s Survivor Series began with a Champion vs Champion matchup featuring Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal. It was supposed to be the main event of the night which failed to attract the crowd. It was due to the predictable win of the beast incarnate squashing the modern day Maharaja, in style.

So, WWE thought that the traditional 5-on-5 elimination matchup among the male division superstar of Raw and Smackdown would close the show. But, in that case, the status of the two prime champions would have been harmed.

Considering this, a title switch took place on Smackdown Live. AJ Styles received the first opportunity against Mahal after digesting a massive attack from the champion. He capitalised on the title shot to the fullest by delivering his iconic phenomenal fore-arm and get the pinfall win. He became a two-time WWE Champion with the win.

Also, the match card changed to Brock Lesnar locking horns against AJ Styles. Apparently, this is the match which was made the main event of the night. It means that toppling the traditional tag match, this contest will close the show, as per the reports from wrestlingINC.com.

Previously, WWE thought that multiple star powers featured in the traditional tag team contest would be a big draw for the Survivor Series night. Hence, it was retained in the main event. However, AJ Styles vs Brock Lesnar is considered to be a dream match for the fans. So, this should be the main event match, according to the source.

The planning might be changed from now to the day that the PPV takes place. Planning does intend to change, now and then considering the latest scenario. But, since this is a clash between two of the very best in the sports entertainment, this one should be the main event of the night.

We should remember that most of the times in the history of Survivor Series, the traditional tag team match received the main event spotlight. This year the names in the cards are even heavier with Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Finn Bálor, Braun Strowman and Triple H being on Raw and Shane McMahon, John Cena, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode on Smackdown. So, it will be interesting to see which match gets chosen to go down last on the match card.
