WWE Raw will host its third brand exclusive PPV following Wrestlemania 33 in the month of July. It is going to be the inaugural Great Balls of Fire PPV headlined by none other than Brock Lesnar. The Universal champion will defend the title against the number one contender Samoa Joe in a dream match for the fans.
Apart from the main event, there will be some marquee matches on the show to fill up the card. All the titles present on the flagship show is going to be on the line, supposedly.
Now, ever since the name ‘Great Balls of Fire’ was chosen for the event, the pro-wrestling industry was furious over its non-PG gimmick. A copyright infringement was also raised towards the WWE which forced them to change the logo of the PPV for at least a couple of times. The event was initially supposed to be the Attitude Era classic event, Bad Blood. But the idea was cancelled, later.
To make the event successful, WWE creative will have to arrange some big matchups to make it a sellout. The audience does not have experience of this event and this should be worth an experience.
However, the rumour mill is suggesting that the match card for the July-PPV is going to be a rematch-heavy. It will feature the rematches from the Extreme Rules PPV, mostly with a couple of new lineups like the Universal Championship one.
Only one match of the event was officially announced by the WWE with the others going to be announced in due course. Check out the potential card for the night to be hosted in Dallas, Texas:
