Brock Lesnar emerged victorious once again at the bygone Greatest Royal Rumble event. This man is neither pinned nor submitted since Survivor Series 2016.
WWE left no stones unturned to make him the biggest box-office attraction of any show. So, they gave him a dominant title run with the Universal Championship.
It might eventually turn out to be the longest, as he is just a few days away from breaking CM Punk’s earlier record. Back in 2012-13, Punk held the WWE Championship for 434 days. Around the success story for Brock Lesnar, there’s disappointing news for Roman Reigns, as he never got the chance to win the Universal Championship.
During both their matches at Wrestlemania and Greatest Royal Rumble, he was the favourite to win. It would have cemented his legacy as the poster boy of the WWE. But, instead, he digested two back to back losses against the beast incarnate which might have pushed him back in the line, for now.
As per the reports of Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez, the all-over push for Roman Reigns is over. Otherwise, how could the franchise player fail to win the tailor-made match set up for him on two consecutive occasions? So, there would be a new name that will dethrone Brock Lesnar from his championship reign.
According to these two veteran professional pro-wrestling journalists, Braun Strowman is the one to do so. It might be the reason why WWE chose him to win the Greatest Royal Rumble match. It was technically the biggest match in the history of the company which guarantees a monstrous push waiting for him.
As for Roman Reigns, the source clarified that a character change was much needed for him in the past. WWE was hell-bent to portray him as the franchise player of the company but failed. Till date, there’s no such positive reactions in-store for the Big Dog of the WWE. This is what Meltzer and Alvarez had to offer for Reigns in Wrestling Observer Newsletter, (courtesy RingsideNews.com)
“[Roman] is done. I don’t know what you do with him. I mean he should be a heel. You know he could win the title and be a heel. Maybe he could win it from Braun. But my thought is that he has to be a heel. I’ve probably thought that for three years now but I feel it much stronger now… I’ve always felt it strong from the start.
If they had turned him heel three years ago, they might be cheering him by now. You cool easily book a rematch of this finish [at the Greatest Royal Rumble] but what do you do? You’ve already done the Cage Match, you’ve already done the pinfall it’s just too much. It’s like the program is already past its peak by [The Greatest Royal Rumble] and they did put Strowman over so yeah I got to think Strowman’s the guy, and he should be. He’s the more over of the two.”

Choosing Braun Strowman is a far better idea since the WWE Universe is ‘over’ with his character. He gets cheers in every move that he performs. So, technically, this might be the best move of the creative team to pit the behemoth against Brock Lesnar.
