WWE has recently confirmed another championship match at Money in the Bank PPV. It will take place over the Smackdown Women’s Championship held by Carmella.

She’s been over with the last title defence at the Backlash PPV event. At the past PPV show, she defeated Charlotte Flair to make her heel presence felt on the roster.

It looked like that a more extended run is reserved for her on Smackdown Live, following this win. But, things are not going that way after the announcement came. At this time, none other than Asuka has been named the number one contender for the title held by Carmella. It is the toughest threat that she can expect.

Carmella was throwing a royal celebration in the London episode of Smackdown Live on May 15th. Her bragging kept on growing until Paige interrupted her. The general manager of the show came down to the ring to let her know about her next title defense. It will happen at the Money in the Bank PPV event on June 17th.

The challenger was revealed as Asuka. Carmella was seeing a ghost standing in front of her and left the ring, immediately. The question stands now is this whether the officials are willing to end the title run of the Princess of Staten Island. The reports from Wrestling Observer Live supports this idea.

On a recent edition of the show, veteran professional wrestling journalist, Bryan Alvarez discussed the topic. He spoke about the Smackdown women’s championship picture and gave updates about WWE officials willing to end the current title run of Carmella. As per him, the former MITB contract holder is quite over with the fans, as of now.

Initially, the fans did not give her any whatsoever reactions to her presence. But, the scene changed after the strong title defense at Backlash. She pinned the Queen of the WWE, in a clean way which was incredible. Despite this, she is not likely to successfully defend her title at the Money in the Bank PPV event.

Check out the updates from SportsKeeda.com regarding this,

“Carmella’s in-ring skills are not as great as ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’, and the former isn’t likely to defeat Asuka. Furthermore, it’s being insinuated that Asuka is indeed the favourite to dethrone Carmella, and win the SmackDown Women’s Championship”.

MITB is the same PPV event where the push towards Carmella had begun, last year. Ironically, this will be the same show where her run will come to an end. It is set to take place tomorrow night at the All-State Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
