John Cena will team up with his real-life partner, Nikki Bella at this year’s Wrestlemania to take on The Miz & Maryse. Some of the fans have already complained about the franchise of the company not getting a marquee match at the grandest stage of them all. The scheduled mixed tag team contest might just turn out to be an entertaining contest, overall.
Previously, Cena was supposed to feature in a match against the Undertaker at the grandest stage of them all. But, it was nixed out, later. Dave Meltzer has pointed several reasons from WWE’s perspective to scrap the earlier plan and sketch out a newer one.
The wrestling pundit said that if John Cena was pitted against Taker then the feud could not garner the attention that it is earning, now. The rivalry among these four Total Divas stars was portrayed extremely on a personal level and caught the attention of the mainstream audience.
There is a portion of the audience who does not watch wrestling but they do love Total Divas and will keep their eyes on the match to see the outcome. This is what Meltzer commented:
“Him [John Cena] at WrestleMania, after they do a tag team match in what may be her retirement match…that’s a lot bigger than him versus The Undertaker, which was the other choice. I mean it really is I mean to me The Undertaker is a big match and all, but it’s not as big as this as far as a memorable thing.”
The veteran wrestling journalist did not forget to mention the memorable promos cut by all of them which would not be possible if WWE arranged the match between Undertaker and John Cena. He further stated:
“No matter what, the promos are so much better. John Cena and Undertaker promos, I mean Undertaker would’ve cut a good promo and John would’ve done good promos with The Undertaker, but they wouldn’t have been this good. I mean you don’t have as much to work with. With Miz, he’s got so much to work with and The Miz has so much to work with him.”
John Cena is supposed to propose Nikki Bella at the grandest stage of them all. If it happens then it would be one hell of a Wrestlemania moments of all-time. Furthermore, it will be used to publicise the Total Divas reality series more in the future.
