WWE decided to release Emma from her contract in the last week of October. Alongside her, Darren Young and Summer Rae were also shown the door from the company. These two superstars were inactive on the roster for a long time now. But, Emma’s release shocked the world since she was supposed to get a push as a heel on Raw.
Also, she competed against the most dominant female champion of the company, Asuka on two consecutive nights. She gave a tough fight to the former NXT Women’s Champion which was a good sign for the Australian Diva. Also, the fans have always supported this beauty who never had the opportunity ever since coming down to the main roster.
So, there’s a fan backlash going on around the Internet-wrestling circuit (IWC) ever since the release was made public. It was a quick decision by the officials since Emma’s posts just before the release suggested that she was quite happy heading into the weekend when the bad news was given on Sunday, October 29th.
Recently, John McKenna of pro-wrestling sheet revealed the reasons for Emma being given the release from WWE. He was a former WWE employee and hence is quite accustomed to the backstage struggle that the former NXT superstar had. According to McKenna, this was the main reason that led her out of the company.
Also, the failure of the Emmalina gimmick was a strong reason. From the very beginning, Emma had the habit to shoot down ideas thrown towards her character which is considered to be audacity shown by a certain superstar. It led her to the dog-house ever since stepping foot to the main roster.
But, the gorgeous Emmalina gimmick was said to be a creation of Vince McMahon. Since, Emma did not like it, as well, it took her straight into the bad books of the Boss. Check out the further reports from the source (courtesy stillrealtous.com)
“The Emmalina character was an idea that was created by Vince McMahon and a lot of time was spent on it before the gimmick was scrapped as soon as Emmalina made her debut.
According to McKenna, Emma didn’t like the Emmalina gimmick which gave Vince McMahon a bad impression of her, and it hurt Emma’s position in the company in the eyes of Vince.”
It is sad to see such a promising talent like Emma had to depart at an early age of just 28. Hopefully, she can find an interesting role outside the WWE around the indie scene and make a name for herself.
