The Shield reunited in the WWE creating much hoopla among the fans. They were brought back by popular demand in October to feature in the main event of TLC PPV. They were supposed to be the headliner of the Raw-exclusive show against the team led by The Miz.
But the plans were drastically changed after Roman Reigns got injured just before the PPV. It forced Kurt Angle to get included in the match as a replacement for the franchise player of the company. After 11 years, the Olympic Gold Medalist competed in a WWE ring to the much delight of the crowd.
Going forward, the question was who would act as the third member of the popular faction in the house shows especially considering The Shield was back to work together on the United Kingdom tour. Triple H was chosen for the role for almost the entire tour. It was a surreal scene for the fans in the UK to see The Game joining Ambrose and Rollins in one of the rarest occasions.
Apart from that, Kurt Angle, himself stepped foot into the ring for one night in a house show. It was after a decade that the WWE Hall of Famer has competed in a live event. It might also have been a process of letting him go under a test considering Survivor Series PPV was on the card.
However, there are some speculations going on as of why WWE had forced legends like Triple H and Kurt Angle to get involved in these live event matches considering there were other roster members who might have got fit into the mix.
Reports from Dave Meltzer suggested that WWE considers Roman Reigns, as the biggest draw of the company who was absent from the UK tour. Hence, to make up this, the company wanted to use heavier names in his place instead of calling some regular superstars.
As for now, Kurt Angle led his team Raw at the Survivor Series PPV, whereas, Roman Reigns was back on Raw overcoming the virus affections that barred him from competing for quite sometimes. Going forward, Angle and Triple H are supposed to be involved in a feud.
