Wrestlemania 34 witnessed the in-ring return of Daniel Bryan. The WWE Universe always wanted to see him back in the ring again.
He fought for this for the entire span that WWE banned him from the competition. Bryan went to several renowned doctors for diagnosis to collect clean-chits. The WWE medical team considered this to be the much-needed evidence.
They gave him the green signal of competing once again after much consideration. We witnessed a huge tag team match at Wrestlemania 34. Daniel Bryan teamed up with Shane McMahon to defeat the team of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The authority figures of Smackdown Live suffered a lot of pain from these two individuals.
We expected Daniel Bryan to go straight into the championship picture after this match. But the storyline did not move forward to that way.
The officials kept him apart from the title picture. He did not get the chance to compete at the MITB ladder match too. There’s a strong reason behind this.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter gave an update on the situation around Daniel Bryan. WWE officials are sensitively handling his case. They are still in doubts whether he can carry forward his career with the neck concussion. They did not feel safe to let Bryan compete in the ladder match. This match increases the chance of getting a neck concussion again.
We can mention WWE Hall of Famer Edge’s name in this context. He has been part of ladder matches for most of the times. His career came to an abrupt end due to this reason. The officials do not want to take any risk with the former Smackdown GM.
Daniel Bryan himself revealed the doctors checked him after competing every single night. Check out his comments from Talk is Jericho, (courtesy stillrealtous.com),
“After every match now I get checked. Not even thanking my opponents, after WrestleMania, I walked to Gorilla. No thank you’s to anybody, just walked straight to the Doctor’s and then I get checked. They do basic neurological stuff, and we are revising that as we go because it is new to them too.”
Rusev defeated Daniel Bryan in his very first opportunity for the MITB ladder match. It was a clean pin win for the Bulgarian Brute. Later WWE handed him another opportunity in a triple threat match. Samoa Joe put him to sleep with the Coquina Clutch to win this bout. Chances for Bryan to go into MITB ended right there.
