WWE News: Reason Behind Sasha Banks Losing The Raw Women’s Championship

This past Monday Night Raw, we have witnessed the main event that was contested for the Raw Women’s Championship. The new champion Sasha Banks defended against the former champion, Alexa Bliss in a rematch. The crowd, as well as the wrestling critics, did not expect a title change, for sure since The Boss had just won the title at the bygone Summerslam PPV.

But, in reality, we have seen the exact opposite thing where Alexa Bliss became a 4-time Women’s Champion, defeating Banks, once again. This loss was an unbelievable decision since just eight days before the creative team decided to crown Sasha Banks as the champion and took the title away from him, right away.

There’s an inevitable backlash going on especially within the Sasha Banks’ fan base considering she might have been the only champion in the history of women’s division who does not possess a single successful title defense. In her past three championship reigns, Sasha was forced to hand over the title to the then reigning queen of the division, Charlotte Flair to put her over. Now, it might be the time for doing the same for Alexa Bliss, who is favorite to the creative heads.

Dave Meltzer discussed the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio where he hinted that a talent like Sasha Banks is getting buried by the officials, intentionally. This is the reason why she dropped the title, quickly, again when it was thought this time she would be allowed to hold the title, at least for sometimes.

The veteran journalist was not happy with the finish of the match, as well. Check out his comments, here (courtesy stillrealtous.com):

“I mean I was like when she hit that DDT I was like ‘she’s gotta get her foot on the ropes.’ When she got pinned it was just like — you did this whole storyline burying her saying she can’t defend her title and then she doesn’t defend her title — she doesn’t even have an excuse as to why she didn’t defend her title.”

It is certainly disappointing for one of the cornerstones of the women’s revolution as of how her career in the WWE is booked, till now. Going forward, Alexa Bliss might indulge in a feud with Nia Jax to defend her championship, or it might appear that Sasha Banks gets her rematch at No Mercy PPV.
