For quite a sometimes the pro-wrestling universe is buzzing about the fact of WWE trying to bring some old-fashioned WCW gimmicks. It started with bringing back the franchise player of the former company, Goldberg and make him the Universal Champion, out of nowhere.
Then, just a few days ago, the most significant PPV event of the promotion, Starrcade was brought back to the PPV calendar which will be hosted in November in its original birthplace of North Carolina. Now, it’s time to witness the WarGames back in the same month as part of the NXT brand.
The idea of bringing this old vibe back definitely goes to Triple H who is the man behind NXT. In this particular match, there will be not one but steel cages surrounding two rings. More than two competitors will fight in it for championships. Initially, the idea was innovated by the late great, Dusty Rhodes.
The WarGames gimmick based event will be hosted on November 18th which was originally supposed to be an NXT special event. It was previously named as NXT Takeover: Houston but got changed to NXT WarGames due to the added gimmick.
The NXT tag team titles will be defended as The Sanity, The Authors of Pain with Roderick Strong, The Undisputed Era will bring utter chaos inside the steel structure. Plus, for the first time, the women’s will also be a part of the WarGames. The vacated NXT Women’s title will be up for grabs as four women, Nikki Cross, Ember Moon, Kairi Sane and Liv Morgan is scheduled to fight over it.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter was a late idea. The earlier one dictated Drew McIntyre to defend his NXT Championship against Adam Cole at Houston. However, Triple H came up with the idea at the very last moment, and despite him being present in India, William Regal made it official.
There’s no denying that The Game took the smartest decision to attract the fans and give them the fun they want. This is why some of the fans consider NXT as the better brand than the main roster. The 14-time world champion also expressed his excitement once this was declared during the latest NXT tapings.
