WWE News: Reason why Charlotte Flair won Smackdown women’s championship

On the past week’s edition of WWE Smackdown, Charlotte Flair received a championship shot against Natalya. It was a rematch against her bitter rival, Natalya. These two had an endless number of matches ever since the daughter of Ric Flair stepped her foot into the WWE scene back in 2014. This time around, they fought it out over the Smackdown women’s championship.

Charlotte received the home-town advantage on that night since Smackdown was hosted in Charlotte, North Carolina. She locked in the pendant move of Figure Eight to make Nattie tap out. By this, she took the title away from The Queen of Harts and became a five-time Women’s Champion.

In case you don’t know, the genetically superior athlete has achieved yet another milestone with this win. She became the first woman in WWE history to hold all the four prime title for the female athletes in the WWE which are the Raw Women’s title and the Smackdown women’s title, Divas title and the NXT Women’s title. We have heard her cutting a promo on this auspicious occasion.

Now, cagesideseats.com has revealed the potential reason as of why the title changed hands on Smackdown with Survivor Series being away just five days later. The win also changed the champion vs champion match lineup, as well. Alexa Bliss took on Charlotte at the dual brand PPV for a win.

As per the source, the recent mainstream attention that the Flairs are getting is the main reason why Charlotte was able to earn the championship. Just a few days ago, the documentary on Ric Flair by ESPN named 30 for 30 was released, and it achieved a lot of praise from the media.

Also, the second generation superstar, herself wrote a book on their family with the help from her father that is available in the market. This also generated quite a buzz from the pro-wrestling universe. Plus, Flair will be the centre of the attraction with the Starrcade event coming up in Charlotte, NC where he will be a chief guest. So, WWE could not find a better time to give the Queen her throne back.
