It has now been confirmed that Shane McMahon will be seen competing inside the Hell in a Cell in a Falls Count Anywhere capacity. This will mark his second match inside the demonic structure ever since returning to the WWE in 2016. His comeback match witnessed him locking horns with none other than The Undertaker at Wrestlemania inside the demon’s playground.
At this time, he will compete against Kevin Owens at the upcoming Smackdown-exclusive PPV inside the same structure. The bad blood between these two had reached to the limit for quite a long time now and needed a proper culmination like this.
Now, when it comes to Shane McMahon competing inside the ring, we often get some polarizing feedbacks. Due to his incredible popularity, we often hear fans wanting to see him wrestling. In opposite, since he is not a full-time wrestler, WWE use him only for putting over new guys which is why he came up losing in all of his matches which is why the topic gets a negative reaction, as well.
As per Dirty Sheets, there have been quite a few reasons why Shane McMahon has been inserted into this upcoming Hell in a Cell match. The primary reason is that Vince McMahon sees his 47-year-old son as a money maker, as always.
He needed some marquee matches to sell out the brand-exclusive PPV, Hell in a Cell and who better to have on that the Smackdown commissioner? In the absence of John Cena, Shane is more than handy to put up yet another big match at the PPV and make it a success.
Shane-O-Mac is considered to be the particular one who saves Wrestlemania 32 from being a disastrous event. At times, it looked the PPV was going down until Shane came up with that iconic jump off the top of the cell and stole the show. The Boss earned a whopping amount of $29.4 million dollars from the event.
Plus, Shane’s current deal is that of a WWE performer’s contract. Hence, he returning in-ring action is nothing but due to contractual obligation. At this point, he solely acts as the Smackdown commissioner and will continue to perform in some more matches and have zero involvements in the creative team.
