AJ Styles is absent from the WWE programming ever since losing his championship. Daniel Bryan did not only took the title away from him but also caused severe damage to the mid-part of his body. But the fans of AJ Styles was unhappy as he was so close to breaking the earlier record set by CM Punk of a 434-day reign. Earlier plans suggested that the Phenomenal One was bound to surpass this one setting a new milestone. But the plans changed all of a sudden prior to Survivor Series that also made several alterations to the PPV match card, itself.
Now the question remains what happened in between that the plans changed overnight? The Dirty Sheets came up with an update on the situation and revealed a sensitive issue brewing between AJ Styles and WWE. A tug of war for contract signing is the main reason that the officials had to strip him of the championship reign.
Current WWE contract of AJ Styles is coming to an end on December 31st. The company is hell-bent to sign him in a new deal, going forward. But he is not looking forward to work in a rigorous schedule anymore and asked for a limited schedule creating a rift. He wants to sign a three-year deal that allows him to work in selected dates.
But WWE offered him a contract intact for five years for a full-time schedule. So AJ Styles has not said yes to the offer, to date. The main reason that he is in dilemma of spending fewer times with his family ever since he is in the WWE. He is the face that runs the place on Smackdown that involves him in numerous other duties apart from wrestling.
The source also hinted that the negotiation is going on for quite sometimes, (courtesy wwfoldschool.com)
“The negotiations have been going on for so long that WWE officials actually used some of Styles’ reasoning for a reduced schedule in the feud with Samoa Joe. Joe pointed out Styles isn’t at home much for his family (which is one of the main reason why Styles wants reduced dates on his new contract)”.
So basically, WWE wanted to keep the prime title in a safe hand except for AJ Styles who could leave the WWE once 2019 kicks off. New Japan Pro-wrestling already offered him a lucrative contract which can be a big reason behind WWE, as well. In that case, the title match at TLC PPV will be his final match under WWE banner.
