If the previous reports are to go by, then a return was imminent for Batista in the WWE.
This was supposed to happen during the beginning of this year when the Road to Wrestlemania begins. Multiple storylines kick off during this time within which a similar would have been kept around the former world champion. It never happened due to the superstar not agreeing to the terms.
Ryan Satin of Pro-wrestling Sheet gave some details in a report regarding this matter. We can certainly tell you that the situation was different than that of initially thought after going through this. It was not Batista rather the WWE who had changes in planning. They even refused to let it know to Batista. It forced the storyline to get scrapped.
The Animal was initially contacted to be the partner for Ronda Rousey. She had a face-off with the team of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at the biggest event of the year. Batista had a rift against The Game while leaving the WWE in 2014. The initial planning was to use this angle in this match. It almost got finalised when The Animal did not hear from the officials for a long time.
He later discovered that none other than Kurt Angle is going to be the team partner for Ronda Rousey. It means that the creative team never contacted with the Hollywood superstar regarding the change of planning.
Check out the updates from the source,
“We’re told the lengthy talks went well and it seemed as though they’d use the match to plant the seed for Triple H vs. Batista at WrestleMania 35 — the feud the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star has openly said he wants to return to WWE for — when things suddenly changed.”
It is perhaps why Batista was training hard at the beginning of this year. He was happy to get a run for the entire Wrestlemania season.
Batista expected his long-time demand to get fulfilled to feature in WWE TV. Apparently, that never happened. Furthermore, he was not yet known anything which might have built a rift.
“We’re told the last conversation they had was in January, and the actor had a strong feeling he was booked for Mania, but then he never heard from Triple H or anyone in WWE again. Two months later, Angle was announced as Rousey’s partner — without so much as a courtesy call to say they were going in a different direction or an update when Bautista reached out to them.”
It will be interesting to see whether WWE likes to bring Batista back to the roster after he pledged for it so many times.
The request for getting into the Hall of Fame was also turned down by him, at one point. Hopefully, one last stint would be reserved for him.
