It is no secret that Daniel Bryan considers wrestling as his first love. But, it’s quite unfortunate his passion was taken away considering his health.
As a result, we have seen him retiring from in-ring competition in February 2016. It happened due to WWE putting pressure on him to quit going against his view. As we have learned from the Total Divas, Daniel Bryan once had a mental breakdown over WWE not letting him compete, ever again. Wrestling is the ultimate desire for which he used to live for. So, there’s no way that he will stick to his duty of GM on Smackdown.
It is the reason why he has spoken on numerous occasions wanting to leave the WWE and go back to Japan where his wrestling career, began. It was also thought that the eastern country would embrace him with open arms considering how much famous he is.
In particular, New Japan Pro-wrestling is the promotion where Daniel Bryan became famous. So, this was supposed to be the next stop for him. However, Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Newsletter opined quite the opposite of this view owing to the company’s strict policies for injury purposes.
As reported by Prowrestlingnews.com, the concussion scenario in NJPW is similar to that of WWE. It means until and unless one gets cleared they don’t bother the concerned to put back on the shows. Check the veteran journalist’s words to understand the scenario better,
“If you have a concussion [in New Japan] it’s the same thing: they keep you out, there’s no questions asked, and they don’t put you back in until you pass the testing. Now, do they have the same stuff as they do here?
Our stuff, we use the stuff that Joseph Maroon did with the impact testing, and whatever they do [in Japan] is probably the same. But when guys have concussions in Japan they’re usually out for a while.”
In case you don’t know, Daniel Bryan will be out of the contract with WWE after April 2018. He wanted to go back to his glory days of Japan once he becomes a free agent. But, this report puts a big question mark to it. If this is the upcoming scenario, then he might end up working with WWE’s rival promotions namely Ring of Honor or Global Force Wrestling.
