WWE News: Reason Why Kairi Sane Won Mae Young Classic Tournament
The final of the Mae Young Classic tournament was hosted on the WWE Network after Smackdown Live was over on the USA Network on this past Tuesday Night. The episodes of the series had already been popular, and quite expectedly, WWE arranged something big for the finale.
One of the mammoth participants, Shayna Baszler from UFC squared off against Kairi Sane from Japan. It was a David vs. Goliath fight with Baszler being the obvious favourite. Apparently, WWE was on the verge of making a deal with the UFC superstar and hence Shayna’s win was quite on the cards.
But, beating all the odds, Kairi Sane turned the table and won the tournament after hitting an elbow drop from the top rope. It was quite a shocking outcome for the end of the series. Some of the hardcore MMZ fans were visibly upset with this happening.
Apparently, there’s a big reason as of why WWE pulled off the shocker. As reported by SportsKeeda.com, Sane was the one with whom the company managed to make a future deal. So, she will continue to stay in the company in the future. WWE has managed to own her name as Kari Sane, too with which she is supposed to start performing in NXT.
Baszler was also on the verge of getting a new contract, but for some unknown reasons that did not turn out to be the case. She is no longer a WWE employee now that the Mae Young Classic is over.
Plus, Vince McMahon did not want to give any more tease of the much talked four horsewomen vs four horsewomen match. According to the source, no deal has been done in this case, either. So, the possibility of that match happening is not there.
However, Triple H was proud of both Sane and Shayna and commented the following about their accomplishments: (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
“[Kairi Sane]’s that little dog in the fight that just won’t go down. She leaves it all out there. You can feel her passion when she’s in the ring.
“Shayna’s a tough competitor. Some of the shots she hit her with… there was a kick to the side of her head where I thought, ‘I’m glad that isn’t me.’ That’s what people feel from her — that never-say-die attitude and that fighting spirit.”
