WWE: Reason Why Nikki Cross Was Not Called With SAnitY on Smackdown
A huge week from the WWE is in the history books. It was the 2018 edition of the WWE Superstar Shakeup.
It started from WWE Raw and ended on Smackdown Live with plenty of shifts on the roster. Some prime names from the red brand roster were drafted to the blue brand, whereas, the same process was followed in a reverse way, too.
This process certainly revamped the entire complexion of both the brands. After spending time on the same roster for one long year, we start to see repetitive matches which can be avoided from now onwards.
This is the main motive to conduct the superstar shakeup process. Another thing to be noted is that several faces from NXT were brought to the main roster, as well.
It is that time of the year when these young talents from the developmental territory get to enter the mainstay league. An opportunity is given to them to prove their true talent on the big league. If proven worthy, they can make a name for themselves. One such inclusion was seen on Smackdown Live.
The former tag team champions from NXT, SAnitY was called up to the main roster. It is perhaps the most dominant faction in the history of NXT division comprising four members. But, only three of them received the call where one was left behind.
It got confirmed that SAnitY members, Eric Young, Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe will be joining Smackdown Live.
But, the only female member of the group, i.e. Nikki Cross was left alone on the developmental territory. She is quite a popular figure among the fans who were quite disappointed about learning the news. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter gave the same expression while talking about this matter.
According to him, the creative team is planning a program between Shayna Baszler and Nikki Cross which is why her call-up was held back, (courtesy Ringsidenews.com)
“I’m surprised no Nikki Cross. I think maybe they’re going to do something with Nikki Cross and Shayna Baszler because Shayna is with the exception of Kairi Sane, Shayna Baszler is really weak on opponents in NXT, but I think she would have been good for that act on the main roster.”
Nikki Cross is an internationally acclaimed athlete who had stints in different pro-wrestling promotions before signing with the WWE. So, her inclusion in the main roster would certainly revamp things on the women’s division. But, for now, we have to wait a little bit to let it happen.
