WWE News: Reason Why Rusev was Previously Removed from Greatest Royal Rumble
The returning match of The Undertaker got confirmed at Greatest Royal Rumble event.
But, it didn’t get sanction so easily. Instead, a strange set of announcements were followed that altered the lineup for some occasions. At the very beginning, Rusev was declared as his opponent.
A Casket Match was announced after a long time. But, a storyline perspective got changed when Lana, Rusev’s wife refused to let her husband compete in such a stipulated match. So, the advertised contest was removed from the card. Instead, Chris Jericho replaced the former United States Champion.
Just a couple of days later, the original match of Undertaker vs Rusev got reinstated at the Greatest Royal Rumble bizarrely. Lana posted another tweet that she reconsidered the situation and permitted her husband to compete in the Casket match. But, the reality is slightly different.

WWE officials went furious about these comments which were showing disrespects. They are quite sensitive when it comes to respecting the former superstars of the company.
In this case, it was the Phenome, himself which is why Rusev immediately got removed from the contest.
Brad Sheperd of Bodyslam.net gave an update on this issue confirming the backstage heat might be over. As confirmed later by Michelle McCool and Undertaker, himself, they were not offended by the young superstar’s comments. Hence, the match found its slot back into the card.

Check out the quotes from the Brad in this matter,
“A source in WWE told me that somebody in the office was definitely rubbed the wrong way by the initial comments Rusev made to TMZ (where he referenced Undertaker being old) WWE is very sensitive to the potential of offending old timers. Once they realized Undertaker wasn’t offended, they put him back in the match.”
