WWE superstar Sheamus has been suffering from a neck injury for quite sometimes. Going by the previous reports, it should have stopped him from wrestling inside the ring.
A concussion in the neck is considered too much severe for a superstar and extremely harmful to his career. Due to this, several names were forced to retire from in-ring competition.
Edge, Daniel Bryan, Stone Cold Steve Austin have been victims of this concussion which is said to be spinal stenosis to be exact.

This was the same injury picked up by Edge that caused him to leave wrestling, abruptly at a time when. It happened at a time when he was the world champion on Smackdown Live.
The former WWE Raw tag team champion is dealing with the same concussion but is still able to perform on a weekly basis. It left us wondering, as to why he is being allowed to wrestle especially when the officials are extremely sensitive when it comes to these concussions.
In a recent occasion, someone asked Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter about the former WWE Champion’s condition and why he can perform. He gave updates saying that many of the superstars have been dealing with such neck concussion which is not so major like Edge or Daniel Bryan. So, there’s no problem with this. “He’s got spinal stenosis, but a lot of guys have that. It’s not a good thing to have, and it will affect him most-likely when he gets older in not so great ways.”
But, there would be consequences behind this, of course. Sheamus has been wrestling in the WWE for over a decade now. He should not wrestle on a regular basis and need some rest after a definite time span. Since this is not the case, he will have to deal with some troubles in the future. Check out further comments from the source,
“He’s working hard. When you look at him physically, you don’t sense that he’s got weakness, that he can’t lift weights anymore or things like that. It doesn’t look as if it’s affecting him too much right now. It’s looking like he can work pretty well and everything like that. In the long run, it’s not a good thing to have. Austin has it, and he lives a normal life, but he doesn’t wrestle anymore. It probably will shorten his career.”
As you can see, there is a chance that Sheamus might suffer the same consequence, as Edge at a later point in his career. Until then, he would continue enjoying this stint. Currently, he is off from Smackdown TV alongside his partner Cesaro.
