In recent times, the WWE Universe had witnessed a plethora of title changes which is entirely unfamiliar with the WWE programming.
Generally, once a superstar wins a title, he or she holds it for a significant amount of time to cement a legacy as the champion. This tradition was not followed for the last few weeks as we have seen title changes, back and forth.
It started back at the Battleground PPV when Kevin Owens won the US title back from AJ Styles only to lose it just two days later on Smackdown Live. It set up a rematch at the Summerslam PPV. In the Summerslam week, Akira Tozawa won the Cruiserweight title from Neville on Raw just to lose it back to Neville on the kick-off show on August 20th.
At the biggest party of the summer, we have witnessed five title changing hands which are an all-time record. Apart from the mentioned changes, the Raw & Smackdown tag team champions, Women’s titles also shifted. Sasha Banks became the new winner at the Summerslam, whereas, she lost it just eight days later.
Now, this is quite certain that the WWE Universe is speculating as of why so many changes were booked in such a short amount of time. It makes the TV products unpredictable but does not value the title holder’s potential, to say the least.
According to the reports of Stillrealtous.com, Vince McMahon is the main reason behind these bookings. He wanted to shift the attention of the WWE Universe back to all of the matches, separately.
The Boss always wants the people to talk about the decisions being taken by the WWE officials as to keep the attention on WWE products. Hence, changing the champions were an integral part of it. For certain extent, he is quite successful in doing so.
The source also suggested that McMahon loves the way things turn out to be and he might continue to play hot potato with the titles. Despite the fans wanting to see organic title changes, The Chairman gets what he wants, and hence this norm might just stick around.
