Paige is one of the pioneers present in the women’s division. During her heydays, there might not be a single one in the locker room to match up to her calibre. It is why WWE chose her to make history in 2014. On her debut night, she won the Divas Championship.
It is a rare achievement in the women’s division of the WWE. Never before and again, this has happened. Plus, Paige was just 22 years old to become the youngest champion in the history of the WWE.
At that point, she was the Divas and the NXT women’s champion, at the same time. Going forward, she continued to dominate the division.
But, her unconventional life has always been a headache for the WWE officials. From 2016, numerous controversies and the neck injury kept her away from in-ring competition.
Earlier this year, the anti-Diva of the WWE was forced to announce her retirement owing to the injury.
It’s hard to believe a young career like her has come to an end, abruptly. However, WWE did find a proper TV role for her. She was named the Smackdown Live general manager by Shane McMahon. Recently, the real reason behind this decision got revealed in a report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
As per the source, WWE wanted to keep Paige onboard due to her upcoming movie. The post-production is going on for the project named Fighting with my Family. It deals with her family matters and how she grew up as a wrestler overcoming tremendous odds. Produced by the Rock, the movie needed Paige’s presence around to keep her a viable figure around the locker room.
It would help the fans not to forget her importance on the WWE roster. Previously, the film was slated for an early 2018 release. However, now it got pushed back for a 2019 slot. It might have to do something to include her retirement situation to it. The initial teaser had already been out on the internet, as we wait for the finalized releasing date.

“Ricky, his wife Julia, daughter Raya, and son Zak scrape a living together wrestling in tiny venues. When Raya and Zak get the chance to audition for the WWE, they learn that becoming superstars, demand more than they ever dreamed possible.”
