Last night’s Smackdown kicked off with Daniel Bryan who gloated about being a strong champion. He tried to infuriate the crowd who were mourning about Kofi Kingston losing his title opportunity at Fastlane. But that let them fired up even more with loud ‘Kofi’ chants. Kevin Owens arrived at the ring to try to divert the attention towards himself. McMahon declared him the new challenger for Daniel Bryan at Fastlane, last week.

But the WWE Champion was not willing to concentrate on the challenger. Rather he tried to set up a confrontation between Kevin Owens and Rowan. Ultimately, he was successful in his motive when the 7-feet monster hit a mammoth chokeslam on the Prizefighter. But that was not the end of the story on Smackdown Live as these two competed in a singles contest.
Kevin Owens could not build any resistance during this matchup since Daniel Bryan was distracting, constantly. At one point, Rowan and Bryan ganged up on Owens making the match disqualified. But Mustafa Ali returned from injury to save the day for the challenger. He sacrificed himself to a Running Knee from Bryan allowing Owens to capitalize with a Stunner.
It was good to see Mustafa Ali coming back from the injury that prohibited him from competing at the Elimination Chamber. Also, it was a good thing that Kevin Owens was standing tall on Smackdown. Unless he would look weaker going up against the meanest heel from the blue brand.
Kevin Owens re-entered the WWE scene back on last week’s Smackdown. It was all of a sudden when Vince McMahon introduced him in a shocking announcement. A contract signing segment was going on the show between Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston for their Fastlane title match. Well, the challenger got robbed.
McMahon confirmed that Kofi Kingston will not be the challenger for Daniel Bryan anymore. The popular superstar of the WWE Universe has lost the chance to compete in a WWE Championship match for no reasons. It was pretty evident that Kevin Owens had to digest negative heat from the crowd ever since the return.
But this time around, Kevin Owens is back as a babyface superstar for the first time ever. As of getting accustomed in a new role was not an easy job for him as McMahon fed him to the fans. But being a professional wrestler, he had to get ready for the upcoming title match at Fastlane. Picking up momentums was his first priority in which he’s been successful after getting Mustafa Ali by his side.
