The speculations of Rey Mysterio finally coming back to the WWE has been on the rumour mill for quite a long time, now.
This started back at the Royal Rumble PPV where he made the surprise return. This comeback was appreciated more than any of the returns that happened on that night fuelling up the anticipation that he should be back onboard, again.
Meanwhile, the Impact Wrestling promotion also offered a deal to the Master of 619 wanting to take him under their banner. However, he did not want to sign it since a pledge is there where he can finish his career in his home which is WWE. But, in that case, the deal needs to be satisfactory for him.
Meanwhile, a huge update was given after this week’s edition of Smackdown Live on his status. Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated tweeted out stating Rey Mysterio was present at backstage on this week’s show. It was hosted from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Breaking: Per WWE sources, Rey Mysterio is backstage working out details tonight at SmackDown for a match at WrestleMania. The rumored opponent is John Cena.

The update from the source suggested the former world champion was there to finalise the deal with the WWE. Quite surprisingly, this included he might be back in the scene in time for Wrestlemania to compete at the biggest event of the year. Furthermore, the opponent pitched for him is none other than John Cena.
It is huge news for the pro-wrestling fans after John Cena did call out the Undertaker for this year’s Wrestlemania. This was a severe hint that the dream match is coming up on April 8th after a long wait of 15 years. However, going by this tweet, Undertaker might not be returning to compete at this year’s ‘Mania, at all.
It might be the reason owing to which John Cena might have got shifted from the flagship show after the Elimination Chamber. Rey Mysterio is likely to get fit on the Smackdown roster if he does come back. Hence, Cena’s inclusion is likely to confront him at one point setting up the match. Currently, John Cena has won a match against AJ Styles on Smackdown Live to earn an opportunity at the WWE Championship at Fastlane PPV, making it a six-pack challenge match.
