The fans of Rey Mysterio are quite hopeful about the masked superstar joining the WWE.
The hype that was created by his Royal Rumble return might be the biggest one considering how much it was successful. On that night, numerous legendary names came back for a one-off appearance, but nobody received the loudest pop like him.
In case you don’t remember, the former World Champion was gone from the WWE in 2014. He started competing on the independent scene from that point onwards.
Mostly, his stint continued with the Lucha Underground promotion under the AAA banner. Later, numerous other companies also had the pleasure of having him.
Meanwhile, the rumours of Rey Mysterio signing a contract with the WWE is running would ever since the Royal Rumble passed by. In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, he spoke up on numerous topics like an upcoming WWE deal, the brand he would like to join and the superstar he is looking forward to facing.
While speaking about the inevitable return to the WWE, the master of 619 stated the talks are going in a positive direction. Hopefully, both the parties can reach an agreement and benefit from a future deal. \
Furthermore, he also wants to perform in a couple of indie wrestling events in the future even after staying with the WWE.
Check out the quotes from the veteran superstar which confirmed the deal talks are positive,
“Right now, the conversation is still in the open with WWE, so I am hoping that when the time is right, and we sit down to talk about the future of Rey Mysterio with WWE, if there is any future with Rey Mysterio, it is going to be good for both parties as much as it will be good for WWE as it will be good for me.
I think it is in the best interest for the both of us. Putting that aside, whatever happens there, hopefully, we can continue to do business with 5 Star Wrestling (and indie Wrestling in general). I don’t see why not.”
The high-flying superstar also voiced about the dream feuds that should be reserved for him in the future. AJ Styles is the first name that comes to his mind since both of them are great in-ring technicians and never had a face-off against each other, in the past. Plus, he is looking forward to facing Finn Balor, too.
Rey Mysterio also talked about the other factors those should be needed to keep in mind, too.
There are doubts whether he can fit into today’s roster of the WWE or not. Plus, there’s no surety whether the officials would like to sign him under the Heavyweight or Cruiserweight division. Most probably, the creative team will have to sign him under a part-timer’s role.
