Rey Mysterio left the WWE in the year 2015. But he did not have any problem to continue elevating his career outside the biggest pro-wrestling promotion.
AAA and Lucha Underground signed him in a deal. They continued to use this legend as a Marquee player. It was from last year that he became a free agent and started appearing under different promotions.
WWE brought him back at the Royal Rumble event in January. It was since then he was back in touch with his former employer. The crowd gave him a standing ovation on that night. The officials noticed this and wanted to bring him under the wings, once again. However, they failed to reach an agreement in the last few months.
In the meantime, Rey Mysterio went to Japan on behalf of the New Japan Pro-wrestling promotion. He competed in a match under this banner at the bygone Dominion 6.9 event. It was a six-man tag team match where he teamed up with Jushin Thunder Liger and Hiroshi Tanahashi in a losing effort against Cody, Marty Scurll, and Adam “Hangman” Page.

Some of the fans did think that it would mark his career at the Japan-based promotion. But now, Wrestling Standard has come up with good news for the fans. As per their report, The Masked Luchador is now back under the WWE banner. He will continue to be a part of the company for the next two years.
Check out the report,
“According to our sources, Rey Mysterio is pencilled in to return to WWE soon, after he put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with his former company. Wrestling Standard has learned that the 43-year-old’s deal will begin on August 1st, with Mysterio returning potentially as early as SmackDown in Brooklyn, two days after SummerSlam.”
The source further claimed Rey Mysterio was present on WWE Raw a few days ago. The show took place in his hometown of San Diego, California where he finalised the deal. Vince McMahon was not present during the deal at that point. But the other officials completed all the paperwork.
Meanwhile, this deal is completely a separate one, as that of the WWE 2K19. Fans will get his character as a pre-order bonus in the upcoming version.
But that has nothing to do with his wrestling stint in the WWE in future. We are eager to see the capacity where Rey Mysterio lands in upon return.
