Rey Mysterio departed WWE on a sour note, last time around with various creative differences. Furthermore, his comments on Vince McMahon speculated that the ego problems would never allow him to come back into the WWE, ever again. However, the latest reports are suggesting something different.
Ever since the cruiserweight division was launched, many fans wanted to see the high flying superstar back in the division. This would also put some star power on to the show. In an interview with Title Match Wrestling, Rey Mysterio opened up about a lot of things including the launch of the Cruiserweight division and the brand new 205 Live show where he also expressed his eagerness to join the division.
However, till date, he was under the contract of the Lucha Underground promotion’s contract and could not sign elsewhere. He joined the Mexico-based wrestling promotion ever since leaving the WWE in 2014 and continued to perform there in the main event spotlight.

Recently, the reports are suggesting that Rey Mysterio is done with the Lucha Underground promotion which teased up the possibility of him joining WWE, once again. Sports Illustrated is the source who stated that his contract with AAA banner, the owner of the said promotion is up meaning that he is already a free agent.
According to the source, WWE is trying hard to get back the ‘master of the 619’ under their wings for one last run. The company has always been keen to keep a Mexican representative in the company. Rey Mysterio was the one during his prime whereas Alberto Del Rio did the same, later. There is a big void to fill up since both of them have departed.
It was also revealed by the source that GFW is also trying hard to get Mysterio on board. They have recently suspended Del Rio aka El Patron for his domestic violence issues. So, they are willing to bring the masked legend to keep their image clean.
At this point, WWE’s contract is still a favourable and lucrative one considering that the company offers the best training centre in the world for the pro-wrestlers. At this point, Rey is trying hard to make his son Dominick a second-generation wrestler. So, it will be useful for him if he gets the opportunity to train at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The final decision on this will be taken by the former WWE Champion, himself.
