The NXT UK tapings are over from the overseas crowning a new champion. It was Rhea Ripley up against Toni Storm in an exciting battle. This two future stars of the women’s division tore each other apart before the Australian picked up the win. She created history by virtue of winning the NXT UK women’s championship. This is the first time WWE came up with such a title.
There’re no doubts that WWE is trying hard to give a major push to the women’s evolution. It was just another move for them to come up with a separate title for the women superstar under the NXT UK banner. This is a brand new division under the developmental territory that allows superstars from other countries to compete in it. Female competitors will be an integral part of it with this inaugural championship.
Eight women competed in the NXT UK women’s tournament for the entire week. Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm were the brightest stars among them. The former name is also a part of the original NXT roster that earned her initial fame. Meanwhile, Toni was trying to become a familiar face with the WWE Universe by participating in the Mae Young Classic tournament.

The finale of the NXT UK women’s tournament came to a culmination at UK’s biggest gaming festival, Insomnia, in NEC Birmingham. Eight superstars competing in it were Toni Storm, Jinny, Isla Dawn, Millie McKenzie, Nina Samuels, Dakota Kai, Rhea Ripley and Xia Brookside. Rhea Ripley turned out to be the chosen one by defeating Toni Storm to become the inaugural championship winner.
WWE also addressed the same with an official tweet. This win against one of the biggest names around the indie scene might give a major push to Rhea Ripley. For those who unaware of this Australian lady, she is one of the consecutive names at Mae Young Classic. The 5-feet 7-inch was the youngest performer to step foot in the tournament. She stormed her way into the second round during the taping only to become victim to Dakota Kai.
Toni Storm was the initial favorite to win the NXT UK women’s championship. However, the officials went with Rhea Ripley which suggests that Toni might win the second edition of Mae Young Classic. The finale will take place at the Evolution PPV event. Also, the NXT UK women’s title will be on the line on that show.
