Finn Balor received a surprise backup in the form of Ricochet on last night’s WWE Raw. The new Intercontinental Champion was out on the show to celebrate the surprising win from this past Sunday night against Bobby Lashley. But Lio Rush was out to interrupt his promo, quickly saying that he does not deserve to be the title-holder. Nobody deserves it better than Bobby Lashley who appeared from the back to attack the champion.
He continued to stomp away on Balor as Lio Rush joined him inside the ring on WWE Raw. Lashley delivered a scoop slam to Balor while Rush hit a Frog Splash from the top rope. The beatdown could have continued but Ricochet appeared making his debut to make the save. He hit a snap kick to Bobby Lashley before catching Rush with a moonsault. He put down Lashley hitting a Springboard drop-kick.
This set up a tag team match on WWE Raw where Lashley and Rush teamed up with Balor and Ricochet. A back and forth action followed on the show with Bobby Lashley tried to take control with a reverse STO. But the babyfaces took over once Rush tagged into the match. Finn Balor hit a drop-kick to keep Lashley out of the ring. Ricochet delivered a springboard uppercut followed by the 630 to get the big win on WWE Raw.
The title change that took place at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event was indeed shocking. Finn Balor became the new Intercontinental champion that did not have any such prior hints. He defeated the Almighty One to capture the first mid-care championship of his WWE career. It was much needed to give a boost-up to his spot on the main roster.
It was a handicapped match where Finn Balor from WWE Raw had to face Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush at the same time. Still, the challenger had the advantage since he has to pin anyone to win the match. He did not have to pin the champion, necessarily to win the Intercontinental Champion. It turned out to be the sole reason behind the win.
He executed the Coup De Grace on Lio Rush to earn the pinfall victory. Bobby Lashley never suffered the loss and he was irate about this. We saw him attacking his Hypeman after the match was over. So the question heading into WWE Raw was whether this bond would be intact on WWE Raw. After last night’s episode, the partnership is still going strong. This might give away a title opportunity to Bobby Lashley at Fastlane.
