Every year, the season of Wrestlemania approaches and we expect to see some big names to return to the WWE. The Rock is one of them, who gets a full-fledged segment on the show whether he wrestles or not. Last year prior to Wrestlemania, the Rock appeared on Raw to announce he will feature at the event.
This year too, he’s maintained the tradition by hinting he’ll be back at the grandest stage of them all. Recently, he was present in Los Angeles, California for his new animation movie Moana’s promotion, produced by Disney. The Rock was being interviewed by TV entertainment reporter Van Vliet and was asked about his presence at Wrestlemania 33. He admitted he’ll be present at Wrestlemania. The conversation went as follows:
Van Vliet: “So we’ll see you in April? Orlando?”
Rock: “What’s in Orlando?”
Van Vliet: “A little thing called WrestleMania.”
Rock: “Sure, ya I’ll see you there.”
This will be his seventh consecutive appearance at Wrestlemania if he indeed decides to show up. The people’s champ was back in the WWE as the host of Wrestlemania 27 and has never missed a season since then despite his busy schedule.
Vince McMahon wants him to compete against Brock Lesnar at the grandest stage of them all but his other commitments does not allow him to compete inside the ring. This is the main reason why he hasn’t been involved in full-fledged matches since 2013. The 29th edition of Wrestlemania was his fight (against John Cena for the WWE World title).
Though last year, he won a match in a record six-minute time against Eric Rowan of the Wyatt family.
